Rental Process & Booking

  • Renting gives you access to high-end tools without the high price tag of purchasing overseas tools, saving time and money to visit salons while traveling, or risk damaging your own tools. It’s affordable, flexible, and eco-friendly!

  • You can reach out to the hotel or Airbnb host to find out what type of plugs they have and the voltage. This is the most efficient way to determine what tool you will need to rent.

  • Make sure to research the plug and voltage requirements for the country you will visit to ensure we offer tools for your destination.

    Select the date you would like your tool to arrive and when you would like to return it to us. 

    Choose the tool you would like to rent and add it to your cart.

    We ship to your home, Airbnb, hotel, or business. 

    • Note, we do not ship to P.O. Boxes or outside of the U.S. Also, please check with your hotel to see how much they charge to receive packages, 

    • RENTRESS is not responsible for package processing fees at your delivery location. 

    • For Airbnb stays, please check with the host to see if someone will be available to receive the package in your absence or if there are any special instructions necessary to receive your delivery.

    Return your tool on the last day of your rental period using the pre-paid return label and packaging to send it back to us.

  • You cannot start a rental on a Sunday as USPS does not operate on Sundays. You will want to set your rental start day to Saturday or Monday. The same applies for the end of your rental period. 

    You will want to follow the same scheduling process for holidays.

    Currently we cannot close our online system for holidays. We hope to have this functionality soon, but you must be aware that USPS is closed on the following days in 2026:

    • Presidents' Day (Feb 16)

    • Memorial Day (May 25)

    • Juneteenth (June 19)

    • Independence Day (July 4 - observed July 3)

  • We have a minimum request period of 7 days in advance. Orders shipping to zones 7 or 8 may require additional transit time.

  • Yes. Rentals start at a 5 day minimum, and you can rent up to 21 days at a time.

    For longer-term rentals, contact us at concierge@rentress.com for a custom quote.

  • It may be possible to extend your rental. This will depend on current inventory and demand.

    Please contact us at orders@rentress.com with your order information if you need to extend your rental period as soon as possible.

  • A daily late fee of $25.00 will apply for each day past your return date. If the item is not returned within 7 days, it may be considered lost, and you could be charged the replacement value.

    We determine a return is late by referencing the USPS Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice (SCAN) to the last day of the rental period. If a package is scanned after the return then it is considered late and will incur late fees. 

  • If you need to make changes to an order or cancel an order, please reach out to use immediately at Orders@rentress.com

    We typically start packing your order 3-8 days before your rental start date. If we’ve begun packing or have shipped your order, we can no longer make any changes. 

  • If your order gets to you early, you still return the item on your original return date.

Equipment & Usage

  • We only offer professional salon tools. Currently we carry ghd tools and we are looking to expand our range to include more brands and tool selections.

  • Yes! Our tools are salon quality and provide excellent results on most all hair types and textures. We recommend using quality styling products when styling your hair to further protect your hair. Additionally, if you are experiencing hair loss or damage, we recommend that you speak to a licensed hair professional for guidance.

  • Accessories that are included in your rental:

    • A RENTRESS drawstring travel bag that is yours to keep!

    • ghd Helios Hair Dryers come with the standard nozzle attachment (must be returned with your rental).

    • ghd Chronos flat irons come with a plate protector (must be returned with your rental).

    • ghd Grand Curve irons come with a protective sleeve (must be returned with your rental).

    We currently do not offer travel hair products at this time.

Hygiene & Safety

  • We follow strict multi-step cleaning protocol using hospital-grade disinfectants and 70% isopropyl alcohol. Since Tim is a licensed cosmetologist, he is fully aware of the proper protocols to ensure customer safety and infection control!

  • Yes. Every item undergoes a full inspection between rentals. Any tools that don’t meet our quality standards are retired and replaced. Check out our Unclaimed Baggage page if you want to purchase any retired tools at a steep discount!

  • Light cleaning during use is fine (e.g. removing hair or product buildup) but please do not attempt to submerse any tools in water, deep clean, disassemble any parts. Any damage due to improper cleaning or handling could result in damage, repair, or replacement fees.

    Wiping off any product residue with a dry cloth is acceptable, but do not use any moistened wipe to clean your tools as the liquid may damage the electrical components.

    We handle all professional cleaning to maintain safety and performance.

Shipping & Returns

  • We currently ship within the contiguous United States. International shipping is not available.

  • We ship via USPS and standard ground shipping takes usually 2-7 business days depending on your delivery location.

  • Returning is easy! Use the prepaid return label and original packaging included in your delivery. Just drop it off at your nearest USPS location. 

    Note, if you have your delivery sent to a hotel or Airbnb, you will still need to drop off your tool at the nearest USPS location.

    Make sure to have USPS scan your package at the time of drop off, otherwise there may be a delay and you could receive a late fee. 

  • Yes, all rentals include a prepaid return label!

  • If you need replacement packaging or a new return label, contact us at orders@rentress.com with your order information right away. A small fee may apply depending on the situation.

  • Yes! You can have your order shipped to a hotel, Airbnb, or a friend/relative’s house.

    • Note, we do not ship to P.O. Boxes or outside of the U.S. Also, please check with your hotel to see how much they charge to receive packages, 

    RENTRESS is not responsible for package processing fees at your delivery location. 

    For Airbnb stays, please check with the host to see if someone will be available to receive the package in your absence or if there are any special instructions necessary to receive your delivery.

  • Absolutely. You will receive an email confirmation with tracking details once your order ships.

  • If you can’t find your order, first check the tracking to ensure it was delivered.

    If the tracking shows the order was delivered, check around your property in case the package was placed in a hidden location. We also recommend checking with anyone that might have accepted the package on your behalf: neighbors, roommates, property manager, or front desk.

    If the tracking shows that your order is still in transit, it may have experienced a delay. 

    If you still can’t find your order, reach out to us right away at Orders@rentress.com with your order information so we can help!

  • Reach out to us right away at Orders@rentress.com, with your order information, if your order has not arrived by 10 pm local time on your delivery date. We will look into it right away and provide you with next steps.

  • Your rental period must include the day you want your tool to arrive and what day you want to send it back to us. We recommend having your tool arrive two days prior to your trip as we can’t foresee shipping issues that are out of our control, like weather or transit issues. We also suggest that you plan on returning your tool the day after you return from your trip to allow for travel delays. 

    For customers who are shipping tools to locations other than their residence, we suggest that you contact your desired location to confirm your order will be received and secured prior to your arrival. 

    When returning a tool that was shipped to a location other than your residence, you have two options:

    Drop off your order at a local USPS location on the last day of your trip or make sure that your rental end date is when you return home so you can drop off your order at your local USPS. 

    Remember, it is your responsibility to ensure your package is received at USPS by the last day of your rental period. If you choose to have someone else return your order, you have breached our terms of service agreement and will be responsible for any late fees or replacement fees for late or non-returned orders. 

  • Please reach out to us right away at orders@rentress.com, please include your order information along with any details you have about the time, locations, and tracking information for your shipment and we will work with you to resolve the issue. 

    You will be responsible for applicable fees (i.e. shipping fees, late fees, or non-returned item fees) due to incorrect return methods. 

  • All rentals come with a prepaid USPS return label and we recommend that you use this prepaid USPS label to return your rental. 

    If you choose to send items back with another mail carrier, you will be responsible for the shipping cost. You will also be responsible for any fees associated with late or non-returned items. 

Pricing & Payments

  • We charge a flat day rate based on rental duration for individual tools and a discounted day rate for bundles.

  • No security deposit is required for any order!

  • We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, Cash App Pay, Google Pay, and select buy-now-pay-later options like Klarna and Affirm.

  • Yes. You can cancel for a full refund 30 days before your rental ships. 

    If you cancel less than 30 but more than 14 days in advance of your delivery date, you will not receive any refund, but you will receive a full credit to your account for the rental fee associated with the cancelled order. This credit can be applied to any future rental or Unclaimed Baggage order.

    If you cancel 14 or fewer days in advance of your delivery date, you will receive a credit to your account minus a cancellation fee of $9.95.

    Once your order ships, no cancellations will be accepted.

    To cancel an order, you must reach out to us at orders@themanevoyage.com with your order details as soon as possible.

  • We charge $25.00 per day for each late item up to 7 days. A maximum late fee charge of $175.00 per item.

    If we do not receive the rental(s) after 7 days of your original return date, we will charge you the retail value minus any late fees. 

Damage, Loss, and Repairs

  • We understand accidents happen! Minor wear and tear is expected. For significant damage, repair, or replacement fees may apply based on our assessment. Contact us at orders@rentress as soon as possible.

  • If your item is lost or stolen, please notify us immediately. You may be responsible for the full replacement cost. In some cases, homeowners or travel insurance may cover it.

  • Currently, we don’t offer rental insurance directly, but we’re working on adding it. Some credit cards offer protection, so check with your provider.

Account & Support

  • Yes, creating an account helps us manage your rental and provide customer support. It only takes a minute to sign up.

Sustainability & Ethics

  • Yes! We prioritize eco-conscious packaging, tool reuse, and reduced waste. For example, the bubble wrap used in shipments contains up to 40% recycled content with up to 20% from post-consumer sources and our branded packaging tape is eco-friendly and recyclable. 

    We also donate 1% of all sales to Stripe Climate to reduce carbon emissions.

    By renting instead of buying, you help extend the life of high-quality tools and reduce consumer waste!

  • Professional hair tools can last up to 10 years if well maintained, but oftentimes their appearance may show wear. We judge our tools lifespan based on its performance and appearance. So, most times we will retire a tool when it starts to look worn. At this point, we will retire the tool and offer it for sale at a steep discount, or donate it to local women’s shelters.

Buying “Unclaimed Baggage” items

  • Unclaimed Baggage are tools that have been selected for retirement. These items are still in great condition, but no longer meet our strict visual requirements. They still perform at an excellent standard, but look a bit lived in. That means minor imperfections may be present, but won’t impact the items performance. All Unclaimed Baggage items are thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and disinfected.

  • We base the price of Unclaimed Baggage items on its depreciation value minus wear and tear considerations. This allows our Unclaimed Baggage items to be priced well below retail while still offering excellent performance. 

  • No, Unclaimed Baggage items are non-returnable and non-refundable.
