Why We Started This Journey

RENTRESS was born from one too many travel days gone wrong—bad hotel dryers, busted converters, and limp, frizzy hair in every vacation photo.

Heather, an avid traveler, was tired of sacrificing great hair for suitcase space. Tim, a professional hairstylist with years behind the chair, knew exactly how essential the right tools are for maintaining healthy, styled hair, especially when traveling.

Together, we created RENTRESS to solve a common problem for two types of travelers:

Whether you're headed to a wedding weekend, business trip, or a well-deserved staycation, packing your full-size tools takes up valuable space, and hotel dryers just don’t cut it. We help you travel lighter by shipping high-performance styling tools directly to your destination: hotel, Airbnb, or even your friend’s guest room.

For International Travelers

Planning a trip abroad? Many salon tools sold in the U.S. aren’t dual-voltage and can be damaged or dangerous when used overseas. We offer a curated selection of tools rated for international use, so you can skip the stress of converters, plug adapters, and last-minute beauty compromises. Look your best—without buying gear you’ll only use once.

I've been addicted to traveling abroad since my first trip out of the country to Mexico City when I was in middle school. Since then, I've been lucky enough to travel to many other countries, but I've always struggled with styling my hair when abroad. 

After ruining both expensive tools and converters, I realized that most converters did work as well as advertised. Every trip I took, I wished there was a company that would rent out the tools I needed to look great on my trip, without having to waste money on cheap tools abroad or risk ruining my own. 

I finally decided to make it happen, and partnered with my best friend Tim, an experienced hairstylist, who could help me select the best tools for our customers. It is our dream to provide salon professional hair styling tools to anyone traveling for work or pleasure, and to help our travelers avoid the same struggles I've had- all done with attention to sustainability.

I’ve been a hairstylist for over 25 years, trained with top brands in the U.S. and even studied in France with Dessange. When Heather had the idea to start this business, it instantly clicked—especially since I know the struggle of dealing with bad hair tools, especially while traveling. (Ever tried styling with a hotel blow dryer? No thanks.)

We started this company to make salon-quality tools available to everyone—without the price tag or commitment of buying. I hand-pick every tool we offer, making sure they perform like the pros use. Plus, cleanliness is huge for me—all rentals are cleaned to meet strict state board standards.

This is about better tools, less waste, and great hair days wherever you are.
